About Dento Aviation
Dento Aviation is an EASA-approved training organisation (CY.ATO.005) based in the Larnaca area, with its office in Aradippou. The school has not yet confirmed to us which airfield it flies from.
The PPL(A) syllabus is the standard 45 hours, but Dento structures it as 35 hours dual and 10 hours solo, with five of the dual hours flown on an FNPT II simulator rather than in the aircraft. The simulator is charged at a lower hourly rate than the aeroplane, which brings the headline course estimate down slightly compared with a school that flies all 45 hours.
Flight training is on the Pipistrel Explorer, a modern two-seat trainer with a Garmin G3X glass cockpit, a Rotax 912 engine and a whole-airframe parachute. Dual and solo hours are charged at the same rate. The school states that no VAT applies to its prices; the other two Cyprus schools add 19%, so this is worth confirming directly before you compare.
Ground school is separate from flying and is bought first: a €2,500 enrolment covers the e-learning platform, a three-hour revision session per subject, progress tests and mock exams. Flight training is then paid by topping up an account, with a minimum first top-up of €1,000. The school expects students to fly three to four times a week. The minimum age to start is 16.
The €13,500 figure Dento quotes is an estimate of the total if the course is finished within the minimum 45 hours, and it already includes the ground school. On top of it the student pays for the nine DCA theory exams, the examiner and the aircraft hire for the skill test, the DCA licence issue fees, a Class 2 medical and an English language proficiency assessment. An optional equipment bundle with a David Clark headset, flight bag, kneeboard, CRP-5 computer, logbook and charts is offered for €665.
Dento has not yet told us how many hours its students typically take to the skill test, whether theory exams must be passed before flying starts, or its trial flight price.
